Keeping you safe

Our priority is to ensure that the People’s Theatre remains Covid-safe, and offers a warm welcome to everyone who uses our building.

In addition to the measures we’ve had in place since we reopened in September 2021, face coverings are now required for all visitors aged 12+ throughout your visit to the People’s in the foyer spaces, bar and auditorium (except when eating and drinking).

We recognise that some people are exempt from wearing face coverings. Please remember that not all disabilities are visible: please respect and be kind to others.

We are adding this requirement to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep our audiences, volunteers and staff safe and comfortable when in the People’s. We also want to avoid having to cancel performances and disappoint audiences.

Our Covid-Safe Measures:

● For selected productions, we are offering dedicated ‘Socially Distanced Performances’. Additional safety measures that we will have in place for these performances are listed below. Check the production pages for further information about which performances will be socially distanced.

● Face coverings are required for all visitors aged 12+ (unless exempt) throughout your visit, in the foyer spaces, bar and auditorium.

● All auditorium and front of house spaces are rigorously cleaned and sanitised between performances.

● Hand sanitising points are available around the building and we’d encourage you to use these as you enter.

● We encourage the use of cashless and paperless transactions at our Theatre bar and Box Office.

● We encourage all customers to book online and use the paperless tickets option. You can either print these off at home or present them on your phone.

● We are encouraging patrons to bring as few personal belongings as possible.

● We encourage you to check in to the theatre using the NHS Covid app on arrival.

● If you have any access requirements, please alert us when you arrive so we are able to help accommodate you appropriately and help avoid any unnecessary queuing.

● If you cannot attend a performance due to Covid, our Box Office team will be happy to exchange your tickets to another performance or issue a credit note up to 24 hours prior to the show.

Additional Covid-Safe Measures on Socially Distanced Performances:

  • Seating in households with at least one seat between each household party and no one seated directly in front or behind you
  • One-way systems in place in our auditorium and foyer spaces
  • Socially distanced queuing system for our bar

With our Covid-safe measures changing, we ask you to continue to be mindful of others attending the theatre. Our Box Office team can be contacted on 0191 265 5020 or if you have any questions regarding your booking.

These measures will be reviewed and updated in line with Government guidelines.
